About me

Sergio Paris

I was born in Foligno, Umbria, a small town in central Italy, in 1976 but my passion for foreign languages and cultures, especially the Germanic ones, has always pushed me to spend long periods of time, for study and work, in Venice, Perugia, Frankfurt am Main, Vienna, Schwerin, Wismar, Freiburg, Munich, Berlin, Cirencester, London, Bath, Oxford, etc.
After graduating from a language high school where I studied French, English, and German, I decided to graduate in German and English language and literature at the University of Venice (Ca' Foscari), where I also won a one-year Erasmus scholarship at the University of Vienna. After a brief experience working as a correspondent in foreign languages for an import-export company in my region, I specialised as a conference interpreter for the German and English languages at the Institute for Interpreters and Translators in Perugia.

After my specialisation I worked for one year as a technical translator, consecutive interpreter, and court interpreter for the German into Italian language combination and vice versa for a translation agency in Schwerin, Northern Germany.

Since 2002, I have been working with passion and dedication as a freelance conference interpreter and translator for translation and interpreting agencies and direct clients in Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, England, the Netherlands, and other European and non-European countries.

Since 2008 I have been a member of BDÜ, the leading professional association for interpreters and translators in Germany that strives for quality and excellence at European and world level.

I can count more than 800 working days of simultaneous, consecutive and liaison interpretation services and have translated over 8,000,000 words.

I have gained a considerable experience in teaching over the years.

I have taught consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for the German language and German language and literature at the Institute for Interpreters and Translators in Perugia. I have held German and English adult language courses on behalf of language schools and private training institutions aimed at attaining the A1-A2-B1 language certification, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Knowledge (CEFR). Lastly, I have collaborated with nursery schools teaching English in preschool years.

My updated and detailed curriculum vitae is available upon request.
